Key Responsibilities

As a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, your primary responsibilities will include:

• Conducting comprehensive psychiatric evaluations to accurately diagnose mental health disorders, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, and mood disorders.
• Developing and implementing personalized treatment plans utilizing evidence-based practices tailored to the individual needs of each patient.
• Prescribing psychotropic medications while monitoring their efficacy and managing potential side effects to optimize patient outcomes.
• Providing psychotherapy through various modalities such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), helping patients develop coping strategies and enhance their quality of life.
• Collaborating with an interdisciplinary team, including psychiatrists, psychotherapists, and social workers, to deliver holistic treatment that addresses physical, emotional, and social health.
• Educating patients and their families on mental health conditions, treatment options, and self-care practices to support ongoing recovery.
• Regularly documenting patient progress, therapy outcomes, and medication adjustments in our electronic health record (EHR) system.
• Participating in team meetings, case conferences, and supervision sessions to cultivate professional development and improve the care we provide.
• Ensuring adherence to ethical standards, maintaining confidentiality, and upholding legal regulations within all aspects of patient care.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

• A Master’s degree in Nursing with a specialization in Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.
• A current and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in New York.
• Board certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.
• A proven history of clinical practice within psychiatric and mental health care settings.
• Strong competencies in psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning.
• Proficiency in therapeutic techniques and psychotropic medication management.

Preferred Experience

While not mandatory, additional experience in crisis intervention, substance abuse treatment, or specialized populations (such as children or the elderly) would be advantageous. Familiarity with a variety of therapeutic modalities, such as mindfulness or trauma-informed care, is highly valued as well.

Compensation and Benefits
